                          Passionate.      Powerful.      Heartfelt.      Majestic.

These are words used to describe this compelling new Canadian anthem of remembrance. John McCrae's immortal poem, "In Flanders Fields" is set to music and performed by The Bonfire Ensemble.

"I have listened to your musical version of the poem with great interest, and was captivated by its poignancy. I believe you have captured the essence of the poem and its intent."
- General R.J. Hillier, Canada's Chief of the Defence Staff

I "commend you and the Bonfire Ensemble for bringing this beloved poem so vividly to life."
- Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency Michaëlle Jean

In Flanders Fields

The poem, "In Flanders Fields", was written in Belgium on May 2nd, 1915, in the middle of the 2nd Battle of Ypres by Canadian soldier/physician/poet, John McCrae as an outpouring of grief over the death of a young friend from home, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer.

Out of a comparatively small population of only 8 million people Canada lost almost 66,000 between 1915 and 1918.

Simple yet profound, the words of "In Flanders Fields" have lost nothing of their immediacy and power. From decades past we are summoned to Remember, to Honour, to take up the torch and to not break faith with those who serve, have served and those who have fallen in our service.
